November - National Adoption Awareness Month

November is National Adoption Awareness Month as our family joyfully reflects on the blessings we have been given through adoption - we are also thinking about the grief and loss that goes with adoption.  While I am so grateful for our lil guys mother who loved him and didn't choose to have an abortion, I never want to dismiss the grief and loss she must feel to not have her son.  Or for the losses that our son-or any adopted child has experienced and questions they have.

"In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ..." (Ephesians 1:4-6); we are so thankful that we have a God that has adopted us - who knows and sees all the feelings that surround adoption - who heals hearts - who loves us.

 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

to give unto them beauty for ashes,

the oil of joy for mourning,

the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

that they might be called trees of righteousness,

the planting of the Lord,

that he might be glorified.

Isaiah 61:3
